Celebrating the Success of the WorkSource Re-Entry/Justice-Involved Job Fair
I want to express my deepest appreciation to everyone who made last month’s WorkSource Re-Entry/Justice-Involved Job Fair such a tremendous success. With an incredible turnout of 145 job seekers and 24 employers, including key public service agencies like WA Dept. of Transportation, WA Dept. of Veterans Affairs, WA Employment Security Dept., and more, the event showcased the dedication to creating opportunities for all. Some job seekers even traveled from as far as Vancouver, eager for a fresh start.
Growth requires change, strength, and stability, and this event opened the door for many to begin their next chapter. Attendees connected with local resource providers and second-chance employers like Lucky Eagle Casino and Hotel and South Sound YMCA, both offering immediate opportunities. The positive energy throughout the event reflected a strong commitment to building meaningful connections.
On the same day, a separate event, the Community Action Poverty Simulation (CAPS), took place, offering an immersive experience that helped participants better understand the realities of living in poverty. Through role-playing scenarios based on real-life stories, participants gained deeper awareness of the systemic barriers low-income families face. The simulation fostered greater empathy and sparked conversations about poverty and social change, encouraging community engagement and support for those working to rebuild their lives.
Together, we are building pathways for second chances, breaking down barriers, and creating brighter futures for all. The journey to change begins with each step we take. Let’s keep moving forward with hope, purpose, and unity.
Sincerely,
William Westmoreland
