PacMtn’s Bold Steps for a Stronger Workforce: 2023-24 Annual Report Unveils Strategic Impact and Vision

I’m pleased to share our 2023-24 Annual Report, a comprehensive look back at PacMtn’s work over the past year, alongside our forward-looking strategies that will continue shaping the workforce landscape across Southwest Washington through 2028.

This past year, PacMtn achieved remarkable strides in strengthening our workforce and creating new opportunities. Programs like the Economic Security for All initiative (EcSA) and Journey 2 Jobs (J2J) have been life-changing for those we serve, addressing critical needs and supporting individuals in achieving long-term stability. For instance, J2J assisted 65 individuals, many experiencing homelessness, in securing employment, with some even finding permanent housing. These outcomes highlight the profound impact these programs have on people’s lives and the health of our communities.

Our Business Solutions team also had a banner year, working with over 2,476 businesses across vital industries like Healthcare, Hospitality & Tourism, and Specialty Manufacturing to help close skills gaps and meet regional job demands. Through awarding 335 skills and credentials, we’ve supported job seekers and employers alike, ensuring that our region’s industries continue to thrive with the skilled workforce they need.

We’re especially proud of the new jobs projected within priority industries. The Food Production, IT & Telecom, and other sectors all demonstrated strong potential for growth, thanks to our targeted investments and partnerships, which align local skills with industry needs. Our work within EcSA and other economic security programs has supported food security, poverty reduction, and re-entry initiatives, with over $3.7 million allocated to creating long-term, self-sustaining pathways for community members.

As we move forward, our Big Hairy Audacious Goal (BHAG) is at the forefront. Over the next four years, we’re committed to placing quality jobs at the heart of our efforts, addressing persistent workforce challenges, and tackling unemployment and economic inequality. By focusing on high-demand industries and engaging underrepresented talent pools, we’re not only inspiring individuals to pursue careers but also ensuring they have the support needed to succeed long-term. This Quality Jobs Campaign is about driving economic empowerment in our communities and building a future where opportunity is within reach for all.

The work ahead is ambitious, but it’s powered by a clear vision of what we can achieve together. I invite you to explore our 2023-24 Annual Report to learn more about the achievements of this past year and our goals for the future.

Together, let’s continue building a resilient, inclusive workforce that benefits all of Southwest Washington.

Sincerely,

William Westmoreland
