Try-A-Trade: Empowering the Next Generation of Skilled Workers
As CEO of Pacific Mountain Workforce Development Council (PacMtn), I’m eager to encourage you to register for the upcoming Try-A-Trade event on October 3, 2024, at the Satsop Business Park in Elma. This incredible event, co-hosted by the Capital STEM Alliance and the South Sound Washington Building & Construction Trades Council, offers high school students a rare, hands-on opportunity to explore careers in the construction trades.
At Try-A-Trade, students will operate heavy machinery, pour concrete, and build interior walls—all while guided by skilled professionals. Representatives from 18 construction trades will be on-site to explain the paths to quality, high-paying jobs and how students can begin preparing now through CTE classes and apprenticeships. By exposing young people to these career options at an earlier age, we’re helping them make informed decisions about their futures—decisions that lead to fulfilling, stable, and rewarding careers.
Events like this one are crucial in shaping the workforce of tomorrow. PacMtn is proud to sponsor Try-A-Trade with a $5,000 contribution, reinforcing our commitment to helping young people find their path.
I strongly encourage students, parents, and educators to join us for this life-changing event.
Sincerely,
William Westmoreland
